A Brief History
Involvement in the IT world for over 15 years we know what it takes to build cost effective networks. Starting with the 8086 IBM PC's to todays state of the art muti-processor servers we have been involved with installing and maintaining personal computers, work-station's, servers, routers, switches & firewalls since 1988.
A long time ago when the Microsoft Windows operating system wasn't even a glimmer in Bill Gates' mind I began my life long love of technology. Networking PC's back then was fairly simple, you didn't have any one trying to hack their way into your network, and the internet wasn't something you could just connect to by plugging in a phone line. Back then a file server's main function was just that, a way to serve up and save files from a single point, making it easier to backup and share those files with your co-workers.
The Late 80's
Gaining experience in networking with Novell's Netware v2.11 and gaining the knowledge of troubleshooting and resolving PC & Server connectivity issues was my first real exposure to the world of information technology.
The Early 90's
Helpdesk management was my next endeavor in the technology world managing a staff of 4 to oversee the maintenance and installation of computers at the local University's School of Business. The schools network was made up of Windows and UNIX servers running on an Ethernet backbone. It was my responsibility to maintain these servers and workstations to ensure 99.99% uptime.
The Late 90's
Back in the corporate world I then began consulting for many different firms in New York City. These firms included banks, and other financial institutions throughout Manhattan. It was here that I became very interested in Information Security.
In 2000
In late 2000 I went back to the management world working for a nationwide Internet Service Provider (ISP). I was hired to oversee the construction and installation of equipment at their NYC Data Center. During construction I was given the go-ahead to hire 5 technicians and one facilities engineer to staff & maintain the facility 24x7x365, and maintain 99.999% uptime for its customers.
In 2003
In 2003 Wintertek now becomes a glimmer in my eye and I decide to begin the process of forming Wintertek into what you see today.
