Why use a remote system administrator?
In most co-location or small business deployments, there is no one whose job it is to keep an eye on the equipment you have running your core services. In a co-location environment the people who are responsible for the equipment have many other tasks they are responsible for, and usually don't bother to stay abreast of upgrades, signs of malicious activity, or even break-ins. If something goes wrong with your server for example, the most common practice is to wipe the system and re-image it with its default configuration. It's common for a server break-in to go several weeks or months without detection.
How much does it cost?
Pricing for remote administration starts at $149 per month for a single device/server.
What does this $149 a month get me?
The $149 monthly fee buys you two hours of service per month per device. If more time is needed to maintain the device the subsequent time is billed at $90 per hour in 15 minute increments. Once Wintertek has been hired to remotely maintain your server/device we immidiately begin:
- Monitoring the device using our remote monitoring capabilities.
- Patches are applied whenever they are released by the manufacturer.
- Log files are monitored for anomalies.
- Creating and removing user accounts upon your request.
- Advice and instructions on the installation and configuration of new hardware/software
- Remote diagnostics of malfunctions with computer hardware components
- Fixing problems related to system and applications error messages (excluding error messages related to computer programming languages, script programming and debugging)
- Fixing problems related to malfunctions of Microsoft® Windows® Operating Systems family components and software applications (remote diagnostics and configuring/fixing procedures only)
